Weekly Overview

Polling - Jeb seems to be in a much better position as this week closes out. Republican front-runners Ben Carson and Donald Trump have both seen significant dips, trump falling as far as 12%. This change in polling is indicative of the front-runner fallacy that Jeb mentioned weeks ago. The cause of the large dip for Trump is likely the fallout from comments made about Muslims after the ISIS attacks in Paris.

Fundraising - Jeb is still making tons of money through Super PACs but is now resuming local fundraisers in Florida. Some of these events have an $1,000 minimum for attending and the funds are used to pay his campaign staff salaries. Fun fact: PAC contributions cannot be used for salaries.

Foreign Policy - During a visit to The Citadel this week, Jeb discussed his foreign policy goals and strategies where he to be elected. In light of the recent Paris attacks, Jeb has called for a renewed focus on defeating ISIS. His comprehensive strategy includes a resurgance of U.S. hround troops. While Jeb has stated that he wants the main focus to be improving local forces and supporting their missions he also says that whatever means necessary must be taken to defeat ISIS.

Newsworthy Moment -  Jeb has said that the prospect of President Trump is "scary" to him, but he would still vote for Trump over Hillary. It seems that Jeb is going to use Trumps slip-ups after the Paris attacks to attempt to catapult himself into the front-runner position.

  1. Jeb is doing a good job in predicting his opponents moves like he did for Donald Trump. He should learn from Trumps mistakes and be logical and careful with the comments he makes on matters like Isis. A good leader needs to make every word count and Jeb Bush is doing well.

  2. I thought that Trump's poll went higher after the Paris attacks. He is still the frontrunner for sure. But I agree, having Trump as president is pretty scary.

  3. Jeb does look like a better fit for a president then Trump but that also means that Jeb needs to show people what he has. And I dont think Carson fell in the polls this week, he seems to be doing a prett great job in keeping his position in the polls.

  4. I agree with a lot of people on here in what they say about Jeb being better than Trump. I find it kinda funny, even if I totally agree, that Jeb decided to use the word "scary". It does a pretty good job of summing our feelings all up, haha.

  5. Last night I watched an interesting video noting that despite Jeb Bush's campaign out-spending all the other GOP campaigns on ads, Jeb Bush is still polling below 5%. I don't think the ads are working, and Jeb Bush's prospects at winning the nomination are quite slim at the moment. However, things could change in the next few months, and if several front-runners slip-up then Bush might have a chance at pulling himself back towards the front.

  6. I find it annoying when politicians say things like "A Trump presidency would be scary, but I'd still vote for him over Hilary." It's like saying, "Yeah, a Trump presidency would be worse, but I'd still rather vote for him than a democrat because I have no ability to stray whatsoever from my partisan obligations"

  8. Bush has been doing alright and I believe that he won't raise in the polls unless he does something dramatic.
